We invite you to explore a compelling and informative article on brain regeneration, authored by our project partners at Helmholtz Munich (HMGU) — a leading research center dedicated to developing medical solutions for diseases influenced by environmental factors.

As part of the REGENERAR project, Professor´s Stefan H. Stricker group is focused on producing innovative strategies for the safe and efficient in vitro and in vivo delivery of the CRISPR system to adult astrocytes in the brain.

In this study, published at Nucleic Acids Research, the authors produced and delivered second-generation CRISPR activation ribonucleoproteins (dRNPs) as a powerful and efficient tool for targeted gene activation. The dRNPs exhibit high uptake and strong transcriptional activation, even in genes with tightly silenced expression, with rapid and temporally precise effects. Unlike DNA-based CRISPRa strategies, dRNPs support high-level multiplexing and synergistic activation of gene expression, without the need for DNA delivery or viral vectors to reprogramming cell fate. dRNPs provide a versatile and powerful tool for transcriptome engineering and regenerative applications in human cells.
